Transit Systems

NICTD WEST CORRIDOR EXTENSION

Type of System: Transit

Scope of work: The project is a new line for NICTD that entails the software and hardware design, signal enclosure assembly and field testing of over (25) new locations with tie-in locations.  The project is inclusive of intermediates, control points, crossings and cut sections with microprocessor based interlockings with electronic coded track circuits between blocks as well as power frequency track circuits within the OS. The work also includes developmental support of the PTC ETMS system.

MTA FRANKLIN YARD

Type of System: Transit

Scope of work: The project entailed the modification of the Franklin Yard. The scope of the work entailed the design and software development for additional tracks, relocation of track circuits and operational changes. The project utilized the iVPI as the microprocessor for train control functions. Complete scope included, software and hardware design, simulation testing, materials and field testing and commissioning the system into revenue service.

MINNEAPOLIS SOUTHWEST EXTENSION

Type of System: Transit

Scope of work: The project is the single largest railroad project in the history of Minnesota. The project is a 13 mile extension that includes over (65) prewired signal houses. DAI’s work entails the complete design of the wayside and grade crossing system to include location plans, braking calculations, warning times, headway calculations, control line, route and aspects as well as various other engineering functions. The work includes design, prewired signal houses as well as testing and commissioning functions. Scheduled completion is 2023.

BART C25

Type of System: Transit

Scope of work: The work entailed the design of signal system and power cases. The work included field oversite during construction efforts, point protection, circuit modifications as well as field modification kits.

BART C35

Type of System: Transit

Scope of work: The work entailed the design of signal system and power cases. The work included field oversite during construction efforts, point protection, circuit modifications as well as field modification kits.

Sacramento Regional Transit TPS Relocation Project

Type of System: Transit Traction Power System

Scope of work: The project entailed the consolation of several signal locations into a single large interlocking location. DAI provided the signal system design, signal enclosures through phased commissioning of the system into revenue service. The equipment entailed the utilization of the VPI microprocessor, power frequency track circuits, TWC system and fiber optic vital communications.

Metro Council Blue Line
Expansion Project

Type of System: Light Rail Traction Power

Scope of work: The project entailed the signal design, software, communication design, manufacturing of train control cabinets and field commissioning of a double crossover, single crossover, intermediates utilizing the VPI with interface connections at tie-in locations utilizing the Sicas7.  The project was under extremely tight timelines as the project had a direct connection with Superbowl LII for the purpose of stacking trains on pocket tracks as well as decreasing headway times to allow for more trains.

WMATA Dulles
Phase 1 Extension Project

Type of System: Transit/Light Rail Traction Power

Scope of work: The project entailed eighteen locations on a traction power railway, control points and double crossovers tested and commissioned. Project started took (9) months of testing. DAI performed grounds testing, foreign current, power distribution, all locking tests, all associated static tests as well as dynamic tests. DAI had supplied (4) Engineers for the entire duration of the project. The project utilized Alstom VPI microprocessors with overlay track circuits and 5F switch machines.

Northeast Transit System

Type of System: Transit/Light Rail Traction Power

Scope of work: The project entails one of the most complex signal systems in the industry. DAI’s scope functions include the oversight of signal system modifications, pretesting and review of interlocking software as well as test procedures. The project entails over 500 system routes through the entire project.

BART

Type of System: Transit/Light Rail Traction Power

Scope of work: The project entailed the design and materials supply of a signal system. DAI’s function has included design through commissioning of the signaling system.

PORT OF LOS ANGELES PROJECT

Type of System: Transit/Light Rail Traction Power

Scope of work: The project entailed the reconstruction of the Pier. Balfour Beatty provided all of the field construction forces for the project. DAI provided construction oversight, site specific work plans and cut-over plans. DAI also performed all of the testing and commissioning of the system into services.
